Is it required that you are from a certain area to authentically perform it’s respective music? Possibly - but what about just to enjoy listening to it? Do you have to be from there? You must have some STRONG CONNECTION to it. RELATABiLITY is the #1 Reason we like music.
So then……. How do we relate to music? And What constitutes as a legitimate way to relate?
What if you relate to the PERSON , not necessarily the MUSIC?
With an industry that is so focused on PERSONALITY, it can be hard to separate this from the music
Could be we blinded by relating to the person, and not relate to the music?

- Authenticity: “The Recreation and representation of the origins of a certain genre and culture within a song”

- Does any musician have to have a reason to make music?
