Find the Note !

Listen to the tone/pitch sounding .  Internalize it, and (using the keyboard in garage band)  try to find the same pitch on the keyboard.   THEN - using this online chart ,  tell me what we would call the pitch using notation - or  , what Note is the pitch

Helpful Tools:

Between these two Tones, Which is Higher in Range ?
Same Question here :
If we can accurately say between two tones which is higher or lower, and we have a keyboard for reference , we can find the pitch with (eventually) ease ! We simply start from a higher or lower pitch from our or original tone, and work our way up / down to it.

Write these Terms down:
Original Pitch / Tone :  The Tone we are trying to identify
Reference Pitch / Tone :  The Tone we are playing on piano and comparing to the original
*** Unless someone has perfect pitch, we all need a reference tone to identify pitches****

******Remember Active Listening :  We are listening (inhaling) and internalizing in order to glean some kind of information from the Sound (exhale). In this case, we want to know which of the two tones are higher / lower.********

Example :

Original Tone :
  • Listen, Now play any reference pitch on the piano .
  • Compare the pitches, is your reference tone Higher or Lower in range than the original tone ?
  • If Higher move your reference tone Down the keyboard in range to get closer to the original tone  ( if Lower, move your reference town UP in range to get closer to the original tone (
  • Work your way up / down the latter of the keyboard until you hear resonance .  You shouldn't hear the clash of tones
