Song Form

Take a look at the video below.  Remember , we hear songs as one large finished product, but like the Star Spangled Banner, or The Adele tune we listened to, they can be broken up in to smaller pieces.

Like in class, we are listening to changes in the music that signify these sections.  Changes like:  Lyrics, different words in lyrics, Different instrumentation ETC.  Check out how this video explains how changes in Instrumentation  / Texture (remember texture is related to instrumentation) often Mark a new section of the form / structure

Here's another one - again , a little cheese but 125000 views means she's doing something right !

Here she talks bout how Repetition can signify different sections.   Maybe the words and Notes of the melody are always the same (chorus), or maybe its the same background music and same notes in the melody, but different words (verse), or maybe its completely new material  (bridge).
Check out this diagram I made of a popular Coldplay tune

See how  often the sections change with the instrumentation ?

Listen for Repetition.
Verse :  Same Music / Melody , BUT different Lyrics
Chorus :  Same Music / Melody , AND same lyrics every time
Bridge :  Different music / Melody,  Different lyrics (all new)
